Profile
I am a mixed media artist with a particular interest in book arts and printmaking. Sandwiched in between my ‘other’ life I have thoroughly enjoyed being a student and learning something new every day. I have squeezed in a Foundation Art Diploma (Distinction) and MA in Book Arts from Camberwell College of Art, a Postgraduate Certificate in Historical Bookbinding (London College of Communication) and a H.E. Diploma in Stitched Textiles (Windsor). I am a member of Designer Bookbinders and a Licentiate with Merit of Designer Craftsmen.
When I need to communicate an idea I try to use the most appropriate media. A recent exhibition concerning members of a family who were killed in wars in the 20th century, included stitched screenprints, a multiple book with motifs burnt in the pages and a quilt using newspaper headlines, print and army shirts. My last exhibition in the Mall Galleries concerned relationships. The structure of little textile books told stories of family connections and history, drugs, alcohol and bereavement.
At present I help the Dulwich Picture Gallery with art workshops for the isolated elderly. My current work concerns the cycle of life.
